theatre arts beginning
Theatre Arts Level I is both the introductory and exploratory class to the theatre arts elective at Green Hope High School. All students, regardless of experience, can take level I. In this class, students are introduced to all aspects of the theatre. With units on mime, voice acting, improv comedy, playwrighting, acting and design students can expect to learn a base level of understanding that will help them both appreciate the world of theatre as well as discover what area they might be interested in pursuing at the higher levels.
Theatre iNTERMEDIATE
Theatre Arts Level II is the beginning of a more intensive study in the techniques acting and directing. At this level, students will begin to learn about how control of movement, control of voice, and vulnerability are the essential ingredients to creating believable characters on the stage. Students will experience units of study in Contemporary Scene Work, Play Analysis, Directing, and more. Students must have passed Theatre Arts Beginning to take this course.
Theatre Arts proficient honors
Theatre Arts Level III is an honors course by audition only. This class is the "artists training ground" where the students will learn a variety of acting and directing techniques to really find their voice and style as an artist. We will do advanced scene work and projects to stretch every student creatively and intellectually.
Theatre arts advanced honors
Theatre IV is an honors course by audition only. This elite ensemble of actors and technicians will be production focused. This class will participate in the North Carolina Theatre Conference High School Play Festival and well as the Student Directed Play Festival. This is a course meant to challenge the most advanced and passionate theatre students.
